Fixed-term & freelance
|
The duration of a fixed-term worker’s
employment has an agreed start and end date. The employee such as a
contractor, and employer, must agree this. Fixed-term contract workers can’t
be treated less favourably than their permanent counterparts and employers
have to ensure they have the same benefits as permanent workers.

The salary is not fixed it can change you could be earning this
amount at one point and another

Shift work

a limit of an average of 48 hours a
week which a worker can be required to work (though workers can choose by
written agreement to work more if they want to) - a new 60-hour weekly
average limit measured over three months is currently progressing through
Parliament. It is also proposed that workers will not be able to opt-out
until they have worked for a business for at least four weeks.
a limit of an average of eight hours
work in 24 hours which night workers can be required to work
|
Your week's pay will be the average number of hours you work at an
average pay rate over a 12-week period. Example: Your pay is £6 per hour and
you work three 9-hour shifts, then you have 3 days off. You're paid £9 per
hour at weekends.
|
Convenience: In rotational shifts there
usually are three shifts, i.e. morning, evening and night shifts. Most
rotational shifts are repetitive and do not require special skills from shift
to shift and hence they are interchangeable. There is tremendous convenience
in this type of shifts because you can plan your day's work in such a way
that you do not neglect office or home. For example you have small children
and you need to stay at home with them. You can choose the night shift and be
with them the whole day. If you establish a good early to bed schedule then
you will have sufficient time to rest and get ready for your 11.00 pm shift
while you are available for your kids during day time.

of company you work for because not all companies do bonuses
|
The benefits to being paid a set salary include the following:

salaried employees additional perks, such as vacation days or a more flexible
schedule. ... Often salaried positions come with a higher status and/or a
jump on the pay scale.
